German term

Redressement-Merkmale

German to English Science Mathematics & Statistics
"Als Redressement-Merkmale werden Land x Geschlecht x Alter benutzt."

This must be a standard statistics term. They are weighting data to achieve a more uniform distribution. Apparently it's also called Ausfallgewichtung and here is a description and an example: http://www.agma-mmc.de/03_forschung/zeitschriften/erhebung_m...

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Many thanks to you both, Harry and Tony. I went with the generic "correction characteristics" for a couple of reasons. I do think in this case it had more to do with sample bias than non-responses; they had on the order of a 100% response rate, but their sample selection was biased (an elite, private, religious school in a 3rd-world country). So it wasn't so much a problem of some people not responding as that everyone they reached was male and upper-class. In retrospective I guess Redressment means just that, redresser = redress = correct. "

Hardly any other hits, mind you. I've also seen "cell weighting" for this, but I can't remember where ...

Another term that springs to mind is "post-stratification", but it's basically all Greek to me.
