Discussion

Shane London (asker) Oct 21, 2007:
Hello, Inkweaver. The word 'Rampenabfertigung' also comes up in the documents. I take it now to be 'ramp despatcher'.
Shane London (asker) Oct 21, 2007:
Actually, looking at the other documents, it might include a number of different things. I will just have to ask about the terms as I go.
Shane London (asker) Oct 21, 2007:
Comsol, thanks for the info but what do you actually call this profession? I don't know if it is technical or something else.
Susanna Miles Oct 21, 2007:
The department is called "operations" and it includes luggage handling and used to include directing incoming and outgoing aircraft - which is now done by the aircraft mechanics at a lot of the airports. - I worked for US Airways for ten years.

It might be well off what you need - but who knows? "abfertiger" reminded me of some researching I did in connection with a railroad patent. Googling my suggestion I then found numerous references to tests (with certificates) and schools where you can learn this job. BOL
