Por definição:

thunderhead: the upper rounded mass of a cumulonimbus cloud associated with the development of a thunderstorm.

Exemplo: Seeing that darkness spreading across the sky and the lightning snapping the ground all around you, and you're standing out there in a field all by yourself and you feel the gulf of winds pulling at your clothes, clipping your hair, and you feel like almost you could be drawn up into the storm, and you imagine yourself on that roller coaster, riding through that thunderhead, and just imagining what it's like, kind of becoming a part of it, in a way.

Durante a evolução das nuvens de tempestade, no topo das cumulonimbus, formam-se inicialmente torres. Quando estas nuvens estão perdendo a estabilidade as torres se desfazem para os lados, criando o aspecto de uma bigorna.
