Of interest is that a number of functional brain imaging and electrophysiology studies have identified greater heterogeneity in response to stimuli between individuals in the ASC group than individuals in the neurotypical control group. This may make more sense from the point of view of non-linear response—i.e. a disproportionality between output and input (as well as state and context sensitivity), in a pathophysiologically perturbed brain system.
