To take advantage of flash memory’s high performance, HBase has integrated flash storage into its architecture with a bucket cache feature. Bucket cache provides supplementary cache to DRAM and serves as a temporary cache store for data that was evicted from DRAM (LRU) cache.
The 150GB dataset size chosen fit into the bucket cache served by the flash cache, resulting in a performance improvement as the flash cache warmed up.
