When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Michael Beijer Sep 11, 2014:
@Richard: The word ‘mengstation’ leads to believe we are talking about the larger variety, but who knows. We haven't been given much context.
Richard Purdom Sep 11, 2014:
Michael, wouldn't a dual-fuel boiler have to do that itself, in the home? Computers can be pretty small... Anyway, difficult to say without more context.
Michael Beijer Sep 11, 2014:
Richard, See the Asker's other question:

‘Bij een mengstation voor aardgas en biogas hoort een signaalkast, met daarin een computer die regelt wanneer er hoeveel gas naar de boiler gaat. Hoe kun je dit het beste noemen?’ (http://www.proz.com/kudoz/dutch_to_english/energy_power_gene... )

It seems we are indeed talking about sth that won't fit in a home, at least not in my home here in Hastings ;)
Richard Purdom Sep 11, 2014:
There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers!
Emma Rault (X) (asker) Sep 11, 2014:
Hi guys, sorry if this seems like a "duh" question. I wasn't clear on whether the use of "substation" (which was my first thought) was particular to electricity and would seem jarring in this context, so I wanted to run it by you. Probably should have explained that when I posted the question, but I was a bit groggy and caffeine-deprived when I hit "Submit" :-)
Edith Kelly Sep 11, 2014:
No time? Emma no time to do a 1-min google search or consult a dictionary?
Textpertise Sep 11, 2014:
What is the problem with this? Is there anything in your context which prevents a straightforward translation as switching station?

switch

Are these domestic boilers? I doubt if anybody has any kind of 'station' or 'substation' in their home. This site, and others, mention 'flicking a switch' for dual-fuel, so 'switch' should be fine.
