annual profits greater than 430 billion USD

MM = mil millones, which in the US (and pretty much only the US) is a billion (10 to the 9th power). If this is going to be read outside the US, I suggest putting this as a translator's note, or translating MM as milliard.

Ok... Or:
annual profits over 430 billion USD
annual profits higher than 430 billion USD
annual profits above 430 billion USD

neutral Rafael Molina Pulgar : over

neutral philgoddard : a billion is a thousand million anywhere in the world now. Postscript: sorry, I meant in the English-speaking world. It is in the UK, Australia, and English-speaking Canada.

nope. a billion is a million million in most of the world except the US. check ISO.
disagree patinba : There is no way this can be 430 billion us dollars. In Spanish abbreviations are doubled to indicate plural (EEUU for example) so this is millions.Look at it this way, if the figure is US billions we are talking about the GDP of Saudi Arabia, or Austria.

Or in Mexico... MM = mil millones = millardo = milliard = 10^9 = US billion.
disagree Rosa Paredes : Whatever the meaning of billion, the original Spanish says 'millions'

Annual profits of more than $430bn

I would tend to use "more than" here.

disagree patinba : I'm afraid this is an impossible profit figure. In Spanish abbreviations are doubled to indicate plural (EEUU for example) so this is millions. Well, not impossible if the text is dealing with an entire industry perhaps, but still, MM stands for millions.

Yes, thanks for pointing out about the plural. Makes sense.
disagree Rosa Paredes : It's millions not bn.

Yes, on second thoughts I think you're right. I think it is millions. Sorry, I must have been on the computer a bit too long yesterday.
