German term

griffweise

German to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) Transfer pricing guidelines
I'm not sure what this term means. It appears in the following sentence:

Anpassungsrechnungen, die allein auf griffweisen Schätzungen und nicht näher begründeten "Erfahrungswerten" beruhen, reichen nicht aus.

I've searched for this term on the web, and it seems to pop up usually related to fingering techniques for flutes. "Holding"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

plucked out of the air

As this is described in your text as being of inferior value to "values arrived at with the benefit of experience", it could be a possibility.

intuitive

My guess would be that it means "intuitive", based on a hunch, rather than on specific proof or experience. This would be my intuitive hunch/guess anyway ;.) Sorry, I have no proof to provide you with :-)
