I have three regular direct clients and they have been with me for some time. I didn’t find them, they found me, either by word of mouth, my website or Proz.com (I was contacted some time ago by a direct client – an international organization – for a very profitable and enjoyable project, another one followed some months later).

If you can’t keep clients, you need to change career. | | | neilmac Spain Local time: 05:45 Spanish to English + ...
I find it most difficult to juggle them all. Especially the ones whose names are similar. Admin is not my strongest point, so keeping abreast of who's who and who has paid and who hasn't and who has asked for an estimate and who hasn't... is what I usually struggle with. But I'm not complaining

I (honestly) do not have difficulties with my direct clients, everything is "harmonious". I have worked with some of these direct clients for many years, with no difficulties or problems, really.

I have worked with some of these direct clients for many years, with no difficulties or problems, really. What Ana said. Most of my work is for direct clients, and most of them were referred to me by other direct clients of mine. There is rarely anything to negotiate, once the initial terms are established and agreed upon, and maintaining the relationship follows from my delivering what I promise. This is the algorithm: client asks "Can you do this?"; I say "Yes"; I do it; they pay me.
