Where can I find volunteer translation work? Thread poster: Thomas Tippit

I am looking to gain experience in the translation field. I am looking for volunteer translation work. Some of my fields of expertise are education and psychology. Thanks

Among other things, the United Way acts as a liaison to many charities. They let you check whether you like the program of the charity in question before you agree to help them. | | |

Also the UN has a website for volunteers: http://www.onlinevolunteering.org/ I would also recommend looking into your local area resources for interpretation and Translation work. There is always a need for local NGOs to get help for the foreign and immigrant populations, and you would be doing some good in your local community. | | |

Hello dear Thomas Proz.com has a wonderful forum called Translators4kids which is a Non-Profit-Organisation http://www.translators4kids.com and they are always looking for volunteers. Sometimes translating and mostly collecting stories from underpriviliged children all over the world. End result; a wonderful book full of stories in all languages...awesome!! ... I just found this link from TED talks looking from translators - it looks like they are predominantly looking for translators with English as a source language (not target).
