ProZ.com is pleased to announce its online Spanish Grammar Course for Foreigners- Elementary Level

This course is aimed at those who already know Spanish and want to study, practice or review specific grammatical points independently. This course consists of ten (10) modules of 3 hours each.

The training is provided on a one-to-one basis, using Skype, MSN or a standard telephone. During each lesson students will receive a thorough explanation regarding specific Spanish grammar points as well as oral and written practicing with the tutor via. .

Dates and times are agreed between the lecturer and the student Each unit can be tailored to the needs of the student. .

First Module



  • The Alphabet: (Letters and Sounds).
  • Gender of Nouns I. (Masculine and Feminine)
  • Plural Forms of Nouns ( -s or –es). .
  • Gender of Nouns: Part II (Family Members and Professions).
  • Gender of Nouns: Part III (exceptions: el mapa, la mano, el agua).
  • Definite and Indefinite Articles: (el,la, los, las / un-una- unos-unas)

  • Duration: 3 hours.

Second module



  • Adjectives. (Concordance and placement)
  • Apocopation of Adjectives (buen, mal, gran…)
  • Nationalities. (canadiense, marroquí, inglésa..)
  • Present Tense. (Regular and Irregulars Verbs)
  • Questions Words (¿Qué? ¿Dónde? ¿A dónde? ¿Quién? ¿Cómo?)
  • Accusatives Pronouns: ( lo, la, los, las)

  • Duration: 3 hours

Third module



  • Hay versus Estar
  • Adjectives and Indefinite Pronouns (algún, ningún, algo,..)
  • Double Negation: (No hay nadie).
  • Progressive Tense. (hablando, comiendo…)
  • Prepositions: a, de, en
  • Compound Prepositions: (detrás de, al lado de, dentro de…)

  • Duration: 3 hours

Fourth module



  • Cardinal Numbers 0-1000
  • The Verb Form "Hay" (+ Hay / - No, no hay)
  • Uses of the Subject Pronouns ( yo, tú, vos, él, ella,..)
  • "Ser" and "Estar" Part I: The fundamental difference ( ¿Es rico? or ¿ Está rico?)
  • "Ser" and "Estar" Part II: Uses of ser ( es de…) ( es el…)
  • "Ser" and "Estar" Part III: Uses of estar ( ¿Está aburrido? Or ¿ Es aburrido?)
  • "Ser" and "Estar" Part IV: Contrasting uses

  • Duration: 3 hours

Fifth module



  • Negative Words ( algo-nada / alguien-nadie…)
  • Possessive Adjectives ( mi-mis / tu-tus / su-sus…)
  • Verbs "Tener, venir"
  • "Tener que" / "Hay que"
  • Verb IR + a / IR + en
  • The Personal "a" ( Necesito llamar a María, ver a Juan)
  • Contractions: al / del

Sixth module



  • Stem-Changing Verbs: o:ue ( poder= puedo )
  • Stem-Changing Verbs: e:ie ( empezar= empiezo)
  • Stem-changing verbs: e:i ( pedir= pido)
  • Periphrastic Future Tense "Ir a" + infinitive
  • "Acabar de" + infinitive ( Acabo de llegar)
  • "Volver a" + infinitive ( Quiero volver a estudiar Español)

Seventh module



  • Ordinal Numbers ( primer, segundo, tercer, cuarto…etc)
  • Comparisons of Inequality ( más….que)
  • Comparisons of Equality ( tan…. como )
  • Superlatives ( el más….)
  • Pronouns as Objects of Prepositions ( es de él, de ella, de nosotros, de ellos)

Eighth module



  • Direct Object Pronouns ( Lo tengo, la tengo)
  • Indirect Object Pronouns ( Quiero escribirle / Le quiero escribir)
  • DO and IO Pronouns Together (se lo / se la / se los / se las)
  • Verbs Like "Gustar" (encantar, preocupar, interesar…)
  • Verb: Parecer
  • Present Progressive ( Lucía está estudiando español).
  • Present Perfect (¿Has terminado la tarea?)
  • Understand weather forecasts (Celsius and Fahrenheit)

Ninth module



  • Preterit Tense (bailé, comí, fui, )
  • Saber versus Conocer
  • Saber versus Poder
  • Pedir versus Preguntar
  • Cardinal Numbers: 1000...

Tenth module



  • Demonstrative Adjectives ( este, esta, ese,,..etc)
  • Demonstrative Pronouns (( éste, ésta, ése,..etc)
  • Quantities words: (demasiado, mucho, poco…)
  • Possessive Pronouns ( mio, mia, tuyo, tuya,…)
  • Reflexive Verbs: Part I ( me levanto, te levantas, se levanta,)
  • Reflexive Verbs: Part II ( divertirse: ( e: ie) =me divierto, te diviertes, etc)
  • Verbs of Frequent Use. (List of verbs).

  • Duration: 3 hours
