French term or phrase: en l'état
I have often seen this term and am not sure how to translate it. Here it is in a list of conditions for use of a web site: "L'ensemble des informations et publications accessibles via ce site sont fournies en l'état". I have seen translators use "as is" for this. Is that correct?

Explanation:
I would agree with you and the previous answerer. "Tel quel" is often used in spoken French of course to mean the same thing, "en l'état" being a little more formal.

Here's what the GDT produced :

économie politique et sociale

as is basis = en l'état loc. adj.

Syn.
tel quel adj.

Déf. :
Se dit d'un bien tel qu'il est à une date déterminée.

I have often met the term "en l'état" and seen it translated into English as either "as is" or "in a position (to)",
in this case "as is" is the best solution...
